What happens on the day

You’ll join a small group of 4 to 6 riders with your own volunteer guide, and rotate through four hands-on stations of about 20 to 30 minutes each.

  1. Brush & groom

Meet your horse, learn the grooming tools and how to stay safe around horses.

  2. Tack up

Find out what each piece of riding equipment does and help put it on.

  3. Lead

Practice leading a horse on a lead rope in a safe, supervised space.

  4. Ride

Get fitted for a helmet and take your first ride, led by an experienced handler.

Everyone comes back together at the end for questions, a group photo and information about lessons if you’d like to keep riding.

What to wear

Closed-toe shoes and long pants. That’s it. Helmets and everything else are provided by the barn.
